Oops... another haul!

I know it wasn't long ago since I did a haul however I went shopping last weekend as I have had such a busy few weeks with school work that I fancied treating myself (and I had watched too many lush hauls and couldn't resist not stocking up) so today I will be sharing what I have purchased with you all! (I have linked as many items up to their sites so if you would like to read further or purchase for yourself then go ahead!)

~ Dress £19.99
Another wonderful New Look trip for my wardrobe but not my bank balance! Although I only purchased this tartan dress, I am completely in love and can't wait to wear it this season as it is so practical, such an amazing quality and finally I have found something that suits my short little self. It is black/navy with burgundy and dark blue stripes through. So far I have loved to pair it with tights, my black furry coat and depending on the occasion, either my black block heels or shiny dolly shoes.

~Kimono £18
I then went to Matalan where I picked up this gorgeous winter florals kimono which I have had my eye on for a while. My kimono collection has grown very quickly over the past 3 months but I just love how easy they are to style with dresses, skirts, shorts, jeans, etc; brilliant! I bought a blood orange, black and white kimono from Matalan back in the summer and got so many compliments on the quality and print (and a bonus was that nobody else had it haha) so I decided to keep an eye on the website for when they brought out some for Winter and they definitely have not disappointed; go check out the website for more! (not on the website but here is the link to the orange one http://www.matalan.co.uk/womens/shop-by-category/tops/kimonos/s2577258/floral-print-kimono )

I have not been to Primark for ages but as my local one is always super busy, I only went in for a couple of things.
~Jumper £12
The first thing I picked up was this 'popcorn' style oversized jumper with a lace trim. I have seen so many people on YouTube buy/style this and I absolutely loved it when I saw it, so when it appeared in my local Primark I knew I couldn't leave it! A lot of jumpers don't always suit my shape and never look good when I tuck them in so I tend to go for anything patterned or oversized. I love the fit of this and am so happy I picked it up as it has totally lived up to my expectations!

~Kimono £5
Oooops... surprise surprise another kimono! This wasn't intentional BUUUT I saw it on the sale-rail reduced from £15 to £5 and just couldn't resist as I was going to buy it in the summer anyway (haha). I love how unique the colour is in the gorgeous lace detailing. A great layering piece for winter but also can be used as a throw over in the summer!

(I also picked up a grey-with-a-furry-bobble hat for £2.50 but couldn't take a photo of it because my dog kept trying to chew the bobble on top hahah. However, I will wear it in some of my winter OOTD's which you will be able to see during Blogmas *cue cheers* and on my personal Instagram- lifeofyasmin (plugs galore in this paragraph sorry hahah) so ya moving on...)

~Jeans £10
H&M is another shop where I always seem to find something in and this time it was a pair of light wash, ripped skinny jeans. I used to absolutely hate wearing jeans but since I have been at Sixth Form they have been a must, especially now it has got colder. I've seen a lot of people wearing ripped ones but could never justify spending 30+ pounds for a pair of Topshop ones just yet! When I was browsing the sale-rail, these caught my eye and for just £10 reduced from £30, what an absolute bargain! They are slightly long but it is nothing a bit of folding up the cuffs couldn't sort out!

I then popped into HMV to pick up Cheryl's new album Only Human for £12.99 I know a lot of people don't buy physical album copies anymore but for me, theres nothing better than buying my favourite album's on 'proper' CD!

I also went into Boots to pick up a new foundation as sadly my trusty MAC Studio Fix had run out so  I decided to go for one of the new ones by Rimmel which was £7.99. I then spent what my mum said felt like hours swatching all the new lip products but finally settled on a Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in the shade 310 Berry Much for £4.99 as I have had my eye on it for quite a while. As it was 3 for 2 (thank you boots) I decided to pick up the Stay Matte Powder which was £3.99 as mine had just run out that morning!

The main reason I went to town was to restock on Lush bits for winter as I am a total bath person and use a bath bomb/bar every Sunday to get me restored for the week. I decided to pick up the Luxury Lush Pud - £3.50, The Butter Bear - £1.95 and Twilight - £3.35 which I am really excited to try as I haven't got a chance to try any of them yet since one only opened up in my local town earlier this year!

Finally, I went for a quick browse around Tiger where I got this Acrylic Lipstick Holder for only £3 to hold my MAC lipsticks in as I really like how they look on show on my desk!

I hope you have enjoyed this evenings post and are looking forward to me starting/attempting Blogmas (which will we a post every other day as I am at school)! Comment below anything you've bought recently! Speak to you tomorrow!

These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things: October-November

Normally people would do their monthly favourites at the start or end of the month in question but because I have been using a lot of the same things I had only just chosen/completed the list of my October favourites and when I went to write a post on it I realised we were already 2 weeks into November! So anyway enough of the rambling, today I am going to be talking about a variety of things I having been loving over the past few weeks. I hope you enjoy the way I have chosen different categories for my favourites posts too!

-Food/Drink:
Recently I have been drinking lots of smoothies but as they take a while to make (preparing, buzzing, washing up you know the drill) I having been loving these Innocent Smoothie - Tubey Smoothies which are basically smoothies in squeezable tubes like yoghurts; how cute! They're so easy to pick up, eat anywhere and count as one of your five-a-day so make great healthy snacks... sadly I don't think there is much of wide flavour variety at the moment but my favourite thing about them is that you can freeze them so they make smoothie ice lollies; brilliant!

-Scent:
Now Summer has (but is still kind of) ending, it means it is time to put away the fresh, sweet body mists and swap them for the perfumes! I was never really a perfume person but since I got Cheryl (
Fernandez-Versini's Stormflower for my Birthday (to read more click here) I have been wearing it non-stop. It is such a unique yet gorgeous scent and I get so many compliments when I wear it that sometimes people can't believe it is a celebrity fragrance rather than a top expensive one!

-Make-Up:
Make-Up wise I have gone back to an old favourite with MAC's Mineralize Skin-Finish Highlighter in the shade Soft and Gentle I always find that I use this more in the Winter and Spring most as it really makes your face look fresh and glow-y which is fabulous as the cold weather tends to make your skin feel dry and therefore look duller, however in the Summer sometimes it just makes me look way too shiny! Now its hit the cold weather and I have had to get up at 6 for school, it has been a must in my everyday make-up routine!

-Fashion:
Since I've been in the Sixth Form and wearing my own clothes I have had so many chances to find new fashion favourites so if you would like I might do a whole post on my school fashion favourites?! But over the past few weeks I have loved to accessorise with a selection of Rings. Rings are great because there is something for everyone; from simple to bling-y, big to small, novelty to classic and in so many colours they are the perfect way to spice up any outfit!

-Activity:
I had a two week half term break in October/November which was filled with  homework but in between I found myself Baking quite a lot! I picked up this mini 'Bake for Britain' book when I went to Center-Parcs earlier this month but I'm sure you can pick it up on Amazon or something maybe? I was first drawn to the cute colours on the cover but when I looked inside to see it was full of easy, simple recipes I knew I had to pick it up as I am more of a baking-girl than a meal-cooker haha; hopefully I will be able to do some posts on some of my bakes in the coming weeks!

-Listen:
Apart from this favourite, music this month has not really been great for me, I have found myself going back to listening to old classics on the bus like S Club (ahead of the Children in Need reunion) and Bastille which threw me right back to Summer when I listened to it on the way home from my exams! Anyway, this month Cheryl released her new album, Only Human and oh my god I absolutely love it! You may say I am biased because she is my all time favourite but I could seriously listen to this album all day without skipping a track (and I did actually do that the day I got it) as it is just amazing and definitely waiting 2 years for! My favourite 3 songs so far are Throwback, Only Human and Firecracker!

-Hair:
The past month I have been trying out new ways to wear my hair; plaited, curly, extremely straight, wavy etc etc but as it is rather long it means it is heavy and therefore doesn't have much volume on the top! But this is when the L'Oreal TXT Spray which is basically a hairspray that gives texture and volume. I have loved this for creating lift to the parts of my hair that are falling a bit flat and giving my hair a bit more texture. The bonus is that is smells insanely good so brownie points to L'Oreal for their amazing smelling products as per usual!

-Body:
My body favourite this month has been one that I stole from my Mum the other week because it smells in-credible that it mysteriously kept ending up in my room. It is a Victoria's Secret Body Lotion in the scent Forbidden Fantasy and there isn't really anything else to say apart from it smells lush and makes my skin feels super soft and fresh.

-Read:
I'm not really the biggest fan of novels or books in general so tend to stick to more factual reads or magazines. This month I have found myself in bed extra early so I have some time to relax and read blogs on Bloglovin', I find it so fun to read so many different writing styles, opinions and experiences  from all over the world. Bloglovin' is free to sign up to and an easy site/app to use; if you want to follow my blog on there then click this link this means you will stay up to date with all my posts and be notified when any new ones go live!

-Watch:
Finally onto my watch of the month/s which has been Coronation Street! I have been so busy this month with work and school but have always loved soaps and Corrie has been the only TV show that I have actually been keeping up to date with recently! There's just something about it that makes it unmissable for me, I don't know whether it is the fact that it makes me laugh at the most random times, if it is the story lines which keep me hooked or the fact that the actors and actresses just play the characters so well! If you don't watch it you are missing out big time haha!

That's it for my recent favourites today; I hope you enjoyed it, hopefully the next one will actually be a monthly favourites haha and are having a lovely Saturday! Watch out because tomorrow will be my Top 5 Autumn Nail Varnishes. As usual don't forget to check out my social media bits which are always tabbed at the top of each page but for the frequently asked ones they will be listed now ... (Instagram- littleworldofyasmin and lifeofyasmin // Twitter- lifeofyasmin) Comment below or tweet me what your recent favourites are as I am always willing to try new things out!

The Throwback Tag

Hey there and welcome to todays post, the first in my Thursday series that I am naming 'Throwback Thursdays' (original I know haha) but these posts are going to be mostly lifestyle related and the place to share things that I've done. This is why I thought the Throwback Tag would be a great way to kick off the Thursday posts!

When I was very very young, my Mum wrote notes about me to read years later and kept them in this baby album so a lot of my answers to this tag have been found using these!

1. What year were you born in?
I was born in September 1997

2. Share a couple of your favourite baby photos?
*my scanner was broken and lighting is too dark so will upload some photos tomorrow!*

3. What TV shows did you watch?
In the notes that my Mum has written there are countless amounts of TV shows mentioned but the ones that appear most are The Tweenies, Winnie the Pooh and Mopatop's Shop.

4. What did you want to do as a job?
When I was younger I went through a phases of wanting to be a teacher, a photographer, a writer and the most vivid of all was a ballroom and latin dancer which probably stemmed from the fact I have always watched and loved Strictly Come Dancing even though I only ever took 1 dance lesson.

5. Do you have any funny videos?
A lot of the videos my Parents and Grandparents have are on tapes and 'proper' videos but nobody has the players anymore so I sadly I don't have any for this post but hopefully we will get them converted soon and then I will be able to share some of the best ones with you.

6. What were you favourite toys?
I remember I loved Stuart Little and I had a tiny toy of him that would come everywhere with me but also a big version that I would sleep with. I also loved dolls and had tonnes of Barbies and Bratz that I loved to style and do their hair.

7. Do you remember any embarrassing moments?
I can't remember many but one that stands out the most was when I was about 4 years old walking back to my Nan's from the sweet shop with my older cousins I fell over into some dog poo and didn't stop crying until we got back as all they did was laugh at me.

8. Share something you wrote during nursery?

9. What 3 songs remind you of your childhood?
Both my parents used to work so when I was on school holidays I would often go to my Nan's house and on the way home my Dad would always play 'Three is a Magic Number' by Embrace as it was his favourite song. Another would be Girls Aloud 'Sound of the Underground' as it was the first 'CD single' I ever bought, I still have it now and Girls Aloud ended up being the heroes of my childhood. 'Wonderwall' by Oasis is another one that carries vivid memories, I think the song is so beautiful and want it played at my wedding. Still to this day I love cheesy pop songs and would happily sit through all the Pop Party CDs which take me back 10 years!

10. Did you have a significant Halloween outfit?
I hated Halloween and I am still such a wuss now at 17 but I know I had a black and gold witch costume which I did like to bring back every year!

11. Share a funny story from your childhood?
There are countless stories I could share that have made me cry-laugh some of my favourites being as random as my cousin plaiting my hair and being able to pick the whole thing up by one loose strand to my Mum's terrible humming skills in our made up 'guess the song' game and many more.

12. Do you have any special keepsakes?
Although I still have a lot of my toys and photos from my childhood, I don't think there was anything particular that I would say is a 'keepsake'. This is one of the main reasons why I make my own scrapbook. I have never really had many 'proper' hobbies as I haven't ever been into sports or musical instruments and always used to stay at home doing crafty things so my scrapbook is kind of a hobby to me. I love the fact that in years to come I am going to be able to look back on these books full of photos and keepsakes as I feel it is so much more sentimental that just looking through photo albums on my phone/computer.

13. Was there anything weird you used to do as a child?
Not really that weird but I used to suck my thumb anywhere and everywhere??

14. What was the scariest thing that happened to you as a child?
I don't really think I went through anything too traumatic as a child but a couple of events that stand out in particular would be the time my dad got into road rage on a motorway which sounds trivial typing it now but I was only about 5 at the time and it was terrifying! I also remember dreading every Halloween as one year I answered the door to 2 teenagers dressed up; one in all black wearing the Scream mask and the other as Bart Simpson and practically screamed the house down!

15. How is the world different nowadays from when you were a child?
For me, I think that the fact internet has such a large effect on everyones everyday life is the thing that is most different as when I was younger we didn't have such immediate access to it and . I remember sitting down all day watching the music channels just to see one music video being played because I loved it so much but now it is only a couple of clicks away on YouTube and it can be played on repeat!

I hope you enjoyed the first Throw-Back-Thursday post on my blog- (as for my post uploading 'schedule' I will keep posting anything goes on Sundays but alternating the weekly posts between Throwback Thursdays and What I Wear Wednesdays which will be more fashion related and will be explained in next weeks weekday post so I hope you enjoy my way of uploading!)

Top 5 Autumn Winter Lipsticks ~ LIPSTICKS

Hello there! Today I will be discussing my Top 5 lipsticks/colours/combinations for the Autumn Winter months. I couldn't place them in a particular order so have arranged the colours from reds to plums to nudes which means there should be something for everyone to try.... I have linked up each product to the online sites plus keep reading until the end to see the swatches of the colours!

- Blake Lively's Shade  // L'Oreal Reds Collection £6.99
I'm not much of a 'True Red' wearer as I find they look odd on my complexion however I feel this colour is going to be amazing for nights out when you having a more natural eye look on so can go for something more exciting on the lips! I love the formula of the L'Oreal lipsticks, they glide on so smoothly, have fantastic staying power and smell absolutely incredible which is rare for a lipstick haha! I have to admit I did pick up this shade because I am a lover of Gossip Girl however I think I will definitely go back and pick up more from the new L'Oreal Reds collection!

- 107 // Rimmel Kate Moss Collection £5.49
With its buildable deep red/pink berry shade is one of my most worn lipsticks for this time of year Rimmel Kate's 107. As I have quite light blue eyes, dark hair and rather pale skin this meant for such a long time I found it so difficult to find the perfect red that suits me and doesn't wash me out. So when I saw Zoella mention this product in a few of her videos last year I was literally screaming with excitement all the way to Boots to pick one of these up to try myself and the first time I wore it, I loved it almost instantly! The main thing I love about this lipstick is that you can wear it with a wide variety of make up looks as you can mute the colour down to make it look more of a natural red tint but also build it right up to be bold and more statement colour. At such a reasonable price, I think most people should have this lip colour in their make up bag this Autumn!

- Rebel // MAC £15.50
Rebel is probably one of my favourite lipsticks of all time and without doubt my favourite lip colour for Autumn and Winter. This lipstick is a Satin finish and is described as a 'mid-tonal cream plum' on the website. The main reason I love it so much is that the colour is so buildable and because of the Satin finish, it means the product always seems to go on without looking like a cakey mess on your lips but at the same time not Matte enough to dry your lips out. Personally I feel that even though this product is rather on the pricey side, it is a must for your Autumn/Winter make up bag as you can achieve such a wide variety of shades from a light berry to a deep pinky purple which looks great from day to night with so many outfits and eyeshadow colours!

- The Damned // Topshop £8
Up The Amp // MAC £15.50
Up The Amp is a light lavender tone but mixed with the darker coloured purple The Damned, I love the combination that these two gorgeous shades create! Purples are always statement shades in the Autumn but I love mixing things up to create my own colours. The formula the two create is so creamy but because The Damned is quite dark and I apply it first, it creates a kind of stain on the lips so means the colour has great lasting power! I love to wear this combination when my outfit is quite plain as it brings some colour!

- Vintage Pink // Rimmel £6.49
- Eva Longoria's Shade // L'Oreal Nudes Collection £8.19
Although I seemed to have mainly mentioned darker shades, I have also been loving having the odd nude lip day here and there. These two products look do look lovely on their own but together create a unique pinky-nude as they compliment each other so well and the vintage-y hues in the pink shade warm up the nude and make it less orange. I tend to wear this combination most when I have a more dramatic eye look or when I've gone for a more colourful outfit. As I mentioned earlier, I find the L'Oreal lipsticks have such a lovely formula so you don't have to worry about having a cake-y mess on your lips as they mix so smoothly!

SWATCH TIME...!

Blakes Red - Rimmel 107 - Rebel - The Damned & Up The Amp - Evas Nude &Vintage Pink

I hope you enjoyed todays post! Let me know in the comments below what your favourite lipsticks are for Autumn/Winter and if there are any other products you would like to see my 'Top 5' for!
